Ritual<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve been through a lot of initiations over the years.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Honestly, most of them were pretty cool. And in an age that\u2019s lost the ability to mark the major passages of life with true solemnity, group sacredness can feel novel.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But none of them prepared me for what I just lived through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because one of the most powerful initiations I\u2019ve ever undergone didn\u2019t happen in a temple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It happened in public, under pressure, while I felt misrepresented, discounted, and steadily erased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last month was one of the hardest of my life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not because I was disempowered. Not because I was confused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But because I chose integrity over acceptance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because I refused to play a role just to keep my position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because I decided that protecting my clarity was more important than protecting my status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I walked away from institutional power\u2014on purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And in doing so, I learned something I\u2019ll never forget:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Real power doesn\u2019t come from titles, or status, or being part of somebody\u2019s Discord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Real power comes from alignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It comes from integrity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it comes from the ability to pull back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From your emotions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And from the mere appearance of authority.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I realized there was no power in this thing\u2014this structure, this role, this performance\u2014other than what I put into it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And when I stepped back, I didn\u2019t lose power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I reclaimed it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From what felt like a system that only seemed to thrive when people stayed small.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From one that, in my experience, rewarded selective self\u2011silencing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From one I experienced as rewarding conformity and emotional self\u2011abandonment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This wasn\u2019t just a resignation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a spiritual act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a rejection of shadow loyalty and a return to truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because for me, power is irreversibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And I did something irreversible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I told the truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And I walked away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I won\u2019t pretend it was easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I felt everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The grief, the anger, the loneliness of choosing wholeness when others would have preferred I fracture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I say it felt like an initiation, I don\u2019t mean that in some romantic, spiritualized way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes people talk about going through an initiation, and what they mean is facing the consequences of impulsive choices. This wasn\u2019t that.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a controlled action. A conscious step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crowley once wrote of the 3rd degree initiation of OTO:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI then proceed to the climax of its career in death and show how this sacrament both consecrates (or, rather, sets its seal upon) the previous procedure and gives a meaning thereto, just as the auditing of the account enables the merchant to see his year&#8217;s transactions in perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s what this was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was the audit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I balanced the books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I cashed in my chips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I took what belonged to me\u2014no more, no less. And I walked out with my integrity intact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I didn\u2019t abandon my power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I simply stopped outsourcing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initiation isn\u2019t about being welcomed into the club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s about what you\u2019re willing to sacrifice to remain whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And sometimes, the true initiation comes after you walk out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the robes come off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the candles are blown out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the only authority you have left is your own voice\u2014and you find it still speaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still aligned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re going through something like this\u2014if you\u2019ve felt erased, betrayed, or punished for staying true to yourself\u2014let me say this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019re not alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are other people like you out there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And you\u2019re not broken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may just be passing through an initiation of your own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not the kind they give you a sash or a thumb ring for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The kind where what no longer serves you falls or burns away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And you finally realize you don\u2019t need a title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You were already sovereign.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Initiation that Wasn&#8217;t in the O.T.O.
