Circus<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NOTOCON and the Theater of Control<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Intro<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>NOTOCON is this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ve got your plane ticket.<br>Your outfits picked out.<br>Your hotel room\u2019s booked.<br>When all is said and done, you\u2019ll have spent over a grand to be there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe you\u2019re looking forward to making new friends\u2014or reconnecting with old ones.<br>Maybe you\u2019re chasing the magic of previous years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are so many unknowns.<br>You\u2019re probably asking yourself:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Will I get invited to any cool parties? Maybe.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Will I get laid? Possibly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Will any of the lectures be good? [sharp intake of breath through clenched teeth]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>But no matter how the weekend plays out, there\u2019s one thing I can guarantee:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You will witness something completely fucked up.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t know what it\u2019ll be.<br>Maybe a screaming match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe someone getting grabbed without consent.<br>Maybe you\u2019ll just feel the chill of exclusion\u2014or catch a whisper of something vicious behind someone\u2019s back.<br>Maybe you\u2019ll witness it directly. Maybe you\u2019ll just hear about it. Maybe you\u2019ll just see someone crying in a corner and not know why.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And you won\u2019t quite know what to make of it.<br>You\u2019ll wonder: Was that just weird\u2026 or was that dangerous?<br>It might rattle around in your head for years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe you\u2019ll brush it off as drama.<br>Maybe you\u2019ll leave the Order one day, and then it\u2019ll all click.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or\u2026 maybe you watch this video first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hi, I\u2019m James.<br>I spent 11 years in O.T.O.<br>I ran national workshops.<br>I led an O.T.O. local body.<br>I attended and presented at NOTOCONs and more conferences beyond that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve seen how the machine works.<br>I\u2019ve witnessed the harm.<br>I\u2019ve been in the room with 5th, 6th, and 7th degrees as we discussed what to do about it.<br>And I\u2019ve seen them push back\u2014both in words and in deeds\u2014against real solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This video is your decoder ring for the esoteric circus of abuse, gaslighting, and cult-like control you\u2019re about to walk into.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can look back on this weekend seven years from now and wonder what the hell happened.<br>Or you can watch this video, and understand it in real time\u2014while it\u2019s happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re ready\u2026 let\u2019s dive in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What You\u2019ll Witness This Weekend<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you\u2019re here, let\u2019s talk about what you\u2019re actually going to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m not talking about the scheduled classes, the banquet, or the giant Gnostic Mass.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I mean the deeper patterns that hold the whole thing together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because once you learn to spot them, you\u2019ll never unsee them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pattern 1: Protection of Upper-Degree Predators and Unstable Members<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When I say \u201cupper-degree,\u201d I mean 5th degree and above. You\u2019ll probably see someone acting unhinged\u2014yelling, love-bombing, crossing lines\u2014and there will be no consequences. Maybe even no one steps in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why? Because they\u2019re either an upper degree themselves, or tightly attached to someone who is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In OTO, status determines consequences. Try holding someone accountable and you\u2019ll find out real fast how high up they are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If they wear a thumb ring, they\u2019re 6th degree\u2014and nearly untouchable. If I were a woman, I wouldn\u2019t be alone in a room with a 6th. Not because they\u2019re all predators\u2014most aren\u2019t. But if one is? You have no recourse. None.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve spent years around 6th and 7th degrees. From what I\u2019ve seen, they can do almost anything without consequence\u2014and NOTOCON gives them a playground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even the so-called safety team isn\u2019t immune from this pattern of abuse.<br>Behind the scenes, safety is more performance than protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In past years, volunteers weren\u2019t vetted. Known harassers get invited to serve\u2014sometimes as a way to \u201credeem\u201d themselves through service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s no screening, no oversight, and zero transparency about people\u2019s histories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not safety. It\u2019s safety theater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And when something does go wrong, the real priority isn\u2019t healing or justice\u2014it\u2019s damage control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pattern 2: Surveillance and Loyalty Testing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll notice people watching\u2014not just who\u2019s talking, but who\u2019s listening.<br>Who\u2019s reacting. Who\u2019s asking the \u201cwrong\u201d questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No, I don\u2019t expect to be the main topic at this year\u2019s NOTOCON. However, if you choose to say something about me, be careful.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of you are already in the file system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Grand Master, Sabazius, keeps folders. Screenshots. Comments. Reactions. Not just about me\u2014but about anyone who shares my content or comments on it. He doesn\u2019t even try to hide it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\u2019re categorizing people\u2014critics vs. supporters.<br>You don\u2019t even have to agree with me. Just mention my videos. Ask a question. Express concern. That\u2019s enough to get noticed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And at NOTOCON, that tracking continues. Maybe someone chats you up later, \u201cjust to express concern\u201d or \u201churt\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe it comes up when you\u2019re up for 5th. Maybe you\u2019ll never know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is how control works: not through public punishment, but quiet social sorting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pattern 3: Gaslighting Disguised as Wisdom<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019re going to bring up something real\u2014and someone will tell you it\u2019s just \u201cdrama.\u201d<br>Or your shadow. Or you just need to mind your own business or just do your will. Or just some bullshit about \u201cThe Work\u201d or \u201cThe Ordeals of Initiation\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This isn\u2019t wisdom. It\u2019s emotional gaslighting dressed in esoteric t-shirts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve sat in upper-degree meetings. It\u2019s a mutual glazing society\u2014where showing up makes you \u201cawesome\u201d and parroting platitudes makes you \u201cwise.\u201d The second you bring up a problem not on the approved list, they shut down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And when they run out of vocabulary, they\u2019ll imply you\u2019re not world-wise or mature enough, or that you\u2019re making drama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trust me: upper degrees love drama. They are addicted to triangulation, shit-talking, emotional manipulation, and tattling. What they can\u2019t handle is accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pattern 4: Smearing of Critics and Dissenters<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll hear people talk about me this weekend. A lot.<br>You\u2019ll hear I\u2019m unstable, egotistical, abusive, theatrical. That I \u201cchanged\u201d, I \u201cburned bridges,\u201d I \u201cwent crazy.\u201d I spent time in a mental hospital. I plotted 9\/11. I started the Chicago Fire.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What you will not hear is a single person engage meaningfully with a word I said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s the pattern: the system doesn\u2019t argue\u2014it discredits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And not just me. Anyone who challenges leadership gets branded with vague moral failure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re divisive.\u201d \u201cThey have weird energy.\u201d \u201cThey threw pamphlets on a table in 2012.\u201d \u201cThey stirred the pot.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll hear someone say, \u201cIt happens every few years. He\u2019ll go away.\u201d<br>Why does a group this small generate scandals like the Catholic Church?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\u2019ll quote some nonsense like \u201cThe dogs bark, but the caravan rolls on.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a caravan to hell.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pattern 5: Performance Over Substance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll sit through lectures that sound smart but say nothing.<br>You\u2019ll see rituals that look impressive but feel hollow.<br>You\u2019ll hear applause for ideas no one understands\u2014because clapping is safer than not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s the point. This isn\u2019t about transformation. It\u2019s about performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you feel confused, alienated, or underwhelmed\u2014trust that feeling. It\u2019s not a lack of understanding. It\u2019s your bullshit detector going off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pattern 6: In-Groups and Social Hierarchies<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll notice some people always get invited to the \u201cright\u201d room parties. Always in the know. Always off in a corner having a conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Others orbit the edge\u2014one gossip session or screenshot away from making it inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The way people in OTO triangulate, spy on each other, and drop veiled threats, you\u2019d think they were trafficking drugs. But they\u2019re not. They\u2019re hoping to play Cards Against Thelema with Sabazius.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This isn\u2019t a spiritual order. It\u2019s high school. They just traded in their band uniforms for capes and thumb rings.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And whether you move up often depends more on flattery and back-channeling than it does on your integrity or anything magical.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pattern 7: Forced Fraternity and Emotional Performance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll see group hugs. Love bombs. Public praise.<br>Then gossip. Triangulation. Quiet cruelty behind closed doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll be told this is a place of radical love\u2014\u201cLove is the law, love under will.\u201d<br>But in practice? Love here means obedience, silence, and emotional labor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leave OTO tomorrow, and 95% of these people will never speak to you again.<br>Say something critical, and you\u2019ll be shunned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is going to be the hardest thing to hear in this video, but I promise you: These people are not your friends.<br>Real friendship isn\u2019t conditional on supporting a group\u2014or pretending not to see what\u2019s rotten inside it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It doesn\u2019t include backbiting, manipulation, mockery, or betrayal.<br>But in OTO, that\u2019s the norm\u2014and the price of not playing along is exile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OTO isn\u2019t emotional safety. It\u2019s emotional theater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And you\u2019ll discover that the moment you stop being agreeable and start being real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Closing: If You See It, You\u2019re Not Alone<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If something this weekend makes your stomach turn\u2014trust it.<br>If you witness something that feels off, and no one else reacts\u2014you\u2019re not crazy.<br>You\u2019re just seeing the system clearly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s what cult dynamics do: they train you to doubt your instincts, rewrite your memories, and explain away the harm as part of the path.<br>But now you\u2019ve seen the map. You\u2019ve got the decoder ring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\u2019ll tell you I\u2019m bitter. Or broken.
